Our bollards come fully assembled. Depending on the installation type ordered, some of the bollards will require you to loosen the set screws that attach one or more of the components and temporarily slide them out of the way to install the bollard.
Absolutely! The key detail here is the outside diameter of your existing pipe. You may browse our bollard drawings to see which components may work for you or you may send us your pipe size and we can let you know what your options are. Even if you don't have existing pipe but you would like to source it locally, this option will save you money particularly in the freight and packing costs.
We ship the bollards out of our shop with a primed finish. They will need to be finish painted either prior to or after installation. We have had great success with both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paint products but you may have another brand you prefer using.
If you are going to have the bollards powdercoated, let us know and we can ship out the bollards in bare metal and we can even ship your order directly to your powdercoater if you wish.
If your options are limited and you really have no other choice than to have the bollards painted here in our shop, we can accommodate you. We have the ability to offer this service at an additional charge which will be listed on a separate line on your quote. Because we are not set up to do this normally, you may have better economic options such as painting them yourself or have them painted locally to you, remembering that a pre-painted bollard may be scratched or scraped during installation.
Although we offer optional eyebolts as part of our bollard assemblies, we do not sell the chain. Some of our customers have been able to source various types of chain online, for example from www.1st-chainsupply.com.
Because American Bollards are produced by Architectural Iron Company, we have decades of experience making custom castings and fabrications to match existing products. Send us whatever information you have available (pictures, overall dimensions) and we will be happy to prepare a quote for your review.
Any of our bollards which use the actual steel pipe outer surface as the visible shaft portion of the bollard can be easily provided in heights other than what is shown on the drawings. For pricing purposes, the additional height is rounded up to the nearest foot and we add $20 per additional foot per bollard.
Any of our bollards which use a fluted sleeve for the visible shaft cannot be easily increased. This does not mean that it can't be done. The increased cost will be considerably more than changing the height of our smooth shaft bollards. Let us know what you need and we will give you the price to consider. Shorter height scan also be accomodated.
The height of any of our fully cast bollards cannot be adjusted. The only way we can do this is if we quote a completely new custom bollard, so while possible you would incur the cost of patterns and tooling.
For most orders we use a freight carrier like ABF. The bollards are stacked on a large wooden pallet, strapped down and loaded onto the freight truck.
If you are unable to unload the large bollard pallets at the delivery location, you may request a lift-gate service and the freight driver will take them off of the truck for you.
PLEASE NOTE: This would still be a curbside delivery only and you must request this service as early in the order process as possible as there is an additional charge. If the delivery truck arrives and you are unable to unload your order, you will be responsible for any additional costs incurred.
Some of our smallest bollards when ordered in low quantity may ship out in cardboard boxes via FedEx.
All of our bollards are made to order. We do try to keep many of the components in stock for reasonable size orders.
If we have all the components on hand when you place your order, the quoted leadtime will usually be 7-10 business days or 2-3 weeks for production. If we don't have the components on hand, the leadtime can be as much as 10-12 weeks.
Once your order ships, the time in transit will vary depending on your location, and will be somewhere from 1-5 business days within the continental United States.
It is always a good idea to order well in advance to assure completion prior to your deadline.
Some projects require written certification of the bollards being US made of US materials. If this is the case with your project, be sure to let us know when you request your quote and we will take the necessary steps to assure we provide you with the needed documentation when needed.
Yes we can, in fact, we've done this before. Send us the dimensions of your padlock and we will quote lockable bollards that will work with your padlocks. We may ask you to send us one of the padlocks for our use during the fabrication of the lockable bollards.
